Let me share with you Egypt’s story.
“I know this is unexpected, but I initially reached out, hoping to thank Jada at Obria Medical Center. In reality, my gratitude extends to the entire staff and team. When I first came to you all in February, I was homeless, living in my car, without any money, and facing a difficult pregnancy with severe bleeding. I had been told I would miscarry, but I couldn’t accept that. Following God’s guidance, I came to Obria, and you graciously waived the ultrasound fee. The very next day, Robyn performed the ultrasound, and to my astonishment, she found a heartbeat—our little MB. It felt like a miracle.
Since then, I've faced overwhelming challenges. I lost my car, which had been my shelter. That night, I slept on a hospital bathroom floor. The next day, I moved in with the father of my child and his family, but that situation quickly became unbearable. They forced me out, and I ended up alone on the streets of Decatur, seven months pregnant, with almost nothing but the clothes on my back.
After three days, I was able to secure a place in a domestic violence shelter. I moved in mid July, starting their 90-day communal living program. The experience was challenging, having lived alone in my car for so long, but it brought me closer to stability. By September , I signed a Rapid Rehousing contract, and in October, I was approved for a two-bedroom townhouse in a town outside of Atlanta.
Today, I am safe with my daughter. Although I am still facing financial struggles, God has shown me hope. My journey from homelessness and hopelessness to having a home and a renewed spirit has been transformative. I am so grateful to the OBGYN, an incredible doctor who provided care with compassion and professionalism, and who delivered my baby girl in a warm and supportive environment.
